CATFISH

Channel cats are the choice of most catfish outings. We did a TV show years ago and were amazed by the interest. We have channel cats in the 10-20 lb range. These fish prefer live bait most of the time. We do use cut bait during certain conditions. The spring can offer some great fishing in quantity. Catfish are concentrated during pre-spawn. These fish can be tricky to hook on your first attempt and often require a few warm up tries. They commonly pick up a bait and mouth it or drop it several times before committing to take the bait.

Several other species can be caught at the same time. Some spring months will allow Striper and Catfish to be caught together. Other catfish species range from 2-8 lbs. The Channel cat is the largest available and best eating of all the cats on Raystown lake.
